It’s about Business
in the Twenty First Century
Business21C is the knowledge hub of UTS Business.
We believe business in the twenty first century thrives on change, risk, knowledge, debate, diversity, inspiration, and innovation.
The world is changing and the way we do business is changing too – everyday. Just how it’s changing is a matter of some discussion, a discussion that we’re progressing through our knowledge hub, Business21C.
It’s a vibrant community that comes together around common interest in dynamic new ways of thinking about business, innovation, creativity, design and integrative thinking. Based on the principle that two ideas are more than twice as good as one, we bring together people and thoughts from across the spectrum: from CEOs of Top 100 companies to start up dotcoms, from finance academics and organisational theorists to business school undergraduates and polemical activists. Through our events, online articles and blog posts, a weekly podcast, newsletter, and a bi-annual magazine, Business21C has become a part of the Sydney business community, and watched by business education institutions across the world.

Kirsten Lees
EditorKirsten Lees became a business journalist to satisfy an endless fascination in everybody else’s business.
Having had a successful business career herself in media and management consultancy, she thought it was about time to find out how other people did it, and why. Armed with a Sloan Fellowship from London Business School (where she learned, among other things that balance sheet and work-life balance are not connected, that marketing and markets were completely different topics and that in business, it’s not always what you know, it’s what people think you know, that counts), she has been asking questions ever since.
Kirsten has freelanced in Australia for News Limited and Fairfax including the Entrepreneur, in The Australian, The Weekend Australian’s business and industry sections and AFR Boss Magazine, among others.
Kirsten is also the author of two books, Votes for Women, the Australian Story, (Allen & Unwin), Let go of my leg, how to get the working life you want after children, (Pearson), the UK edition of which has been translated into five languages and sold globally.
