Desley Luscombe
Desley Luscombe is Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building at the University of Technology, Sydney. As Dean, in the past three years Desley has refocused the Faculty at UTS leading the staff in the development of a unique vision as a research and creative practice collaborative.
Previously Desley was Associate Professor and Head of the Architecture Program at University of New South Wales where she held academic roles for 23 years.
In parallel and from 1977–2003, as Director of Campbell Luscombe Architects of Sydney, she collaborated in the design and presentation of architectural projects winning several national architectural and industry awards. She is now a consultant to Campbell Luscombe Folk Lichtman, Architects, a group with significant expertise in aged care living. In combining her academic and professional roles she served as a Councillor for the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (1992–2002), Member of the NSW Council of Professions (2000–2002), Editor of The Architecture Bulletin (1992–1995), Chair of the State Education Board of the RAIA (1997–1998) and State Representative and Deputy Chair of the National Education Committee RAIA (1999–2001), President of the Society of Architectural Historians Australia and New Zealand (1995–1997), Editor of Fabrications: JSAHANZ (1988–1992), and a Member of the Editorial Boards for Architectural Theory Review (1997–1999) and the Journal of Potential Architecture (2000–present).
