Glenys McLaughlin

Glenys specialises in the space where emerging technology meets human behaviour. She brings depth of knowledge and intellectual rigour to conversations about the transformations we experience when future technology becomes today’s way of life.

Her background in philosophy, psychodynamic theory and linguistics, and her experience as a software technologist, inventor and business consultant enable her to research, write and speak from a unique perspective.

She uses her wide-ranging understanding of trends to pinpoint how we will interact with today’s emerging technologies, and helps businesses to understand the future expectations of their customers.

Glenys enjoys the challenge of combining future concepts with interdisciplinary thinking and strategic planning. She has consulted with organisations large and small in financial services, telecommunications, IT, government, arts and education. Her hands-on contribution spans the project life cycle.

Her recent work has included the design, development and implementation of virtual humans for customer service interaction, and the scoping of personalities and interaction models for multi-touch surface tables and mobile devices.

Glenys is an accomplished speaker, educator and discussion-leader. She has lectured and tutored at Macquarie University and hopes one day to decide which of her three PhD projects to finish.

Like many futurists, Glenys studies speculative fiction as one among many expressions of future thinking. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it!
